Taking back your power

Recently I was having some roofing and insulation work done to my house.  As the week went on, I am sure that the idea of pounding and basically feeling like a home invasion for 4 days can be a lot for anyone.  But what happened on the last day of work was something I thought I would share and also how I handled it.  During the work inside the house for the insulation one of the works in Spanish said a very negative bigoted word in my house and within ear shot. Now I happen to know what the word meant and I sat there and my choices were to do nothing or to do something. I had to sit a minute before saying something as I was full on angry, upset, hurt and sad and probably another host of other emotions along with shaking.  When I thought I could say something I did. I could have just let this roll off my back, but you never in your own home, especially where you should be safe, have something said that in many ways could be directed at you.  I spoke to the worker, the Supervisor, the other Supervisor and the rep of the company about it. They tried to say it was no big deal, it is what they said about another guy.. Really?  Did they?  Well needless to say, I took back my power and faced it instead of let it go.  Doing so was relieving to a degree, but, it still hurt.  I of course shared it on Facebook and Instagram in the hopes of letting people know, you can take back your power, you do have that permission to do so. You just have to give it to yourself.

The reason for this post this month is to tell you..If you ever have something that makes you feel less, or hurt that you just can't do something, YOU CAN!!!

The problem is that we don't allow ourselves the permission to face the negativity without the thought that it will only generate more.  That is not true, it is how you deliver it, now how you take it.  I stood my ground and stated that it was unacceptable.  We were not going to recommend them and we won't use them for anything in the future.  We also said we will not have their sign in our yard.  We have yet to hear from the Owner so that should say something about them, but not about us.  We do not live our lives with blinders on, our eyes are wide open and so should yours.  If you don't like something, do something about it, but know how to communicate it, not react but be mindful, you have the permission to be strong, your free will gives you that and if you stand up to bigotry, hate, prejudice, whatever seeks to take your power, wrong..you take it back and show them, you are not little, you are a part of the universe, a part of God and as we all should understand that, we are all one and that is how we all should act.

Blessings,

Steven.
